Joining MP3 files to play tracks in order on my (Cheapy & Crappy) in car player

Well, this is easy

I've been hunting around for a piece of software to join mp3s together in order to be able to listen to albums in order on my car's player as it likes to scramble the playing order, no matter how fastidiously I name and tag the tracks.

I have just found an ace and quick method for doing this with no need to do anything other than type.

Open a COmmand Prompt

(If that mean nothing to you, hit “start” and type ‘CMD’, that black screen with white writing? That’s a command prompt, welcome to real computing)

Change directory to where your files are located

(Enter the drive letter, so if they are on an SD card mounted as e:, type “e:” and hit enter) then move to the folder they are in (type cd followed by the full folder path)

MP3 files are “Binary Files” so we need a “/b” switch to successfully join them together.

For example, to combine the masterpiece “Dinosaur Planet” into one file, do this:

100words_article002a

Equally you can list individual files using a + to concatenate files like this:

Copy /b file1.mp3 + file2.mp3 + file3.mp3 Final_big_File.mp3

The BCS EGM, opinions sought

Hello there. If you don’t know what the BCS is, please feel free to not read any further. If you do, thank you for taking the time to read on.

The BCS is holding an Emergency General Meeting I thought I'd ask what, if any, views people have on the current BCS turmoil and the EGM that has been called for 1st of July.

All I've read on the subject so far can be succinctly boiled down into "Changes are happening and they are bad" on the one hand and "our changes are good, don't worry your pretty little heads about what we are doing" on the other. It is not the most sophisticated of debates

FWIW I've been a member of the BCS for years, purely because joining the professional body is what one does but I can honestly say that it doesn’t offer me much for my best part of £100 per year. Frankly I’ve been looking for an excuse for canning my membership and this tit for tat shouting at each other that the organisation seems to be currently engaged in could well be what finally causes me to muster the effort to cancel the direct debit ☺

However, I am willing to be persuaded so if anyone out there has any views on which way to vote at the EGM, or if I definitely should continue my membership, I would be glad to hear them

Update:

Useful discussion of my question @Geekup

Update 2:

Just watched the webinar from the BCS, the fact that it will take them 3 Days to post the video says it all for me and reinforced my what I thought were prejudices, but appear to be informed opinions that the BCS is irrelevant, outdated & poor value for money.

My Membership will lapse but I look forward to rejoining when (and if) this changes
